Yesterday night Joe showed some signs of weakness as he clambered onto my bed in the middle of the night (a regular occurance if he isnt feeling good). The following day he seemed to pick up about midday and appeared fine by evening. In the night he showed weakness again and a reluctance to get up in the morning. His walking was stiff and laboured and so I carried him to the vets – which is a short walk from where I live.
His appetite is normal and he is drinking OK but there is definitely something not right with my little Jack Russell Terrier. The vet seems to think there was some discomfort in his abdomen, and gave him a pain killer / anti-inflammatory, as well as something to clear him out (although his motions are normal too). He picked up at lunchtime and enjoyed his meal – but as evening approaches weakness is returning and he earlier failed to jump onto the sofa. Quite a scarey change from the fit active little JRT I had no more than 48 hours ago…
I was thrown into a panic earlier as he suddenly disapeared and was nowhere to be found – eventually found him under the bed. He has to go back to the vets on Monday if he does not improve over the weekend.
